Our History
Since 1959
Jerome Nelson originally worked full time for United Parcel Service. In the 1950s he began a part-time landscape service with a shovel, rake and wheelbarrow. In 1959 the company had grown to five employees and became Incorporated. Dale Nelson began working for his Uncle in the summer of 1965 at the age of 13 years. By the time Dale was 18 he was designing and drawing landscape plans and selling his ideas. He became Landscape Superintendent in charge of design and implementation of all phases of landscape construction.
In 1990 Jerome retired and Dale purchased Nelson Landscape Inc. Employees had now more than quadrupled. With over 40 years of experience in the industry Dale continues to focus on commercial and larger residential projects with a distinctive design style establishing strong customer relationships to set the company apart from competitors.
Over the decades, project sizes and complexity grew, as did the size and sales of the company. Influential projects included General Electric, The Grand Avenue Mall, and Ruess Federal Plaza in downtown Milwaukee. In the early 80's Nelson Landscape completed Miller Brewery.
In the early 90's Nelson Landscape began the design and construction of Bristlecone Pines Golf Course in Hartland that featured planting berms over a mile long among other unique aspects of the large project.
Looking to the future, the company will continue to focus on creating distinctive residential and commercial projects as its core competencies. Proud of past successes, we set them as precedents to achieve even greater results in the future.
